About Us.

This is me, Christy Knight. Owner and Creator of The Play Hive. For years I have had a vision and longing for a space like this, but never felt brave enough to put it out there. This changed when my beautiful boy, Milo, was born a year ago. My sweet Milo is my inspiration and reason for this space.

I am a qualified Foundation phase and ECD teacher. In my 11 years of working with children in many spheres, I have come to wholeheartedly know and believe that when children are respected, allowed creative freedom and given open ended, self directed activies, they are at their most successful, productive and fulfilled.

We are a mobile process art studio based in KwaZulu Natal. We are focussed on children of all ages and abilities being absorbed in the process, experimenting and doing, rather than the end product.

Our motto is “It’s the doing, and the loving of the doing that brings happiness.“.
